Has anyone used the 74 exhaust offered by Corvette Central on a 75-79 Vette, as they advertise? This is what I am thinking; I have 77 L88 4sp, I was going with Dynomax Cerama-Coat Headers, with the Dual 74 exhaust offered by CC (I do not need to worry about emission test.). CC duals has MagnaFlow hideaway mufflers. If it is practical I was going to install the setup myself. My hesitation is the MagnaFlows, originally I was going with Flowmasters 40s. But if I can bolt up the setup from CC without any customizing, then that might be the way to go. (I like doing the work myself, rather then taking it to a shop.)
Also; I am pretty much running stock everything else. What would be a better system 2" or 2 1/2?
What do you guys think?
If you want to lookup the parts: CC part #'s: 323376, 323638-Mag
I have the 2.5" pipes on my 77, with manifolds. The only problem is that your car has 2 holes in the trans cross member for the pipes to go through but only 1 side had a bracket to secure the pipe from the factory.
You can get the 2 1/2" transmission exhaust brackets for duals from the vendors. I got mine from Paragon. Part# 1809 for manual transmision or turbo 350. Part# 2426 for Turbo 400. I just installled the 1809 part under my 78 turbo 350 this past weekend in place the bracket that only secured a single pipe on the passsenger side.
Dropped the vette off at the exhaust shop this morning to have them install my super turbos, high flow cats and connect it all with 2 1/2" pipe to my just installed dynomax headers.
