I thought I would post a few pic's before heading off for a week on a business trip to Lost Wages (Las Vegas). Getting the gauge cluster in between the lower dash was a royal pain! I ended up snaping the bezel at the thin section left side . Luckly the screw that helps hold the vent in place will now help keep the bezel in place as well. I had to peel the dash covering back along the surface which gauge cluster mounts and remove the foam on both sides. This gave just enough room to get the gauges in place. I still had to fight it though. When the radio and seat belts arrive I should be able to finish it up.
Hello,
Did you do the seats yourself? They look really good. It seems like there has been a lot of threads and posting on doing seats this month. From the look of yours, I will have to put that on my list of things to do this summer.
Yes I did the seats myself. It wasn't to bad to do. I think it is one of the easier jobs to do on an interior rebuild. It just takes time. If you do it your self, do one at a time. That way you have a templet to follow. The actual covering took two of three evenings while watching TV. This was my first go at recovering seats.
Man , ..the color turned out great!...Don't you just hate the way it makes you wont to fix every thing else though......There just doesn't seem to be enough time or money.
Wow! I have the buckskin interior too. Is the dash pad darker like that in all the buckskin interiors? I like it because it really ties in with the carpet color!
Also, when you did your seats, did you use the "Seat Install Kit" or just use your existing hardware?
Sun country...that looks great!
Did you put the heat sheild/sound deadener under the carpet? If so, what did you use?
That's where I am...I've been putting in Fatmat today...man...you work faster than I do!
Looks GREAT!

Looks good. You will not believe how much better the new seats will be when you flop down in them the first time. I redid mine in my den like you did, watching TV. They came out great and it was my first time at it also. I used their installation kit but I still went out and picked up more hog rings just to keep everything tight.
I just got back from my week trip. I went down to Surprize, Arizona to see my parents new house in Sun City Grand. I saw some real nice looking C3's running around. I then went to Las Vegas for a trade show which is still going on. I did sacrifice a little money to the one arm bandit.
Fjetb,
I used a material from HomeDepot that is used to wrap heating ducts with. It is about a 1/4" thick with aluminum foil on both sides. Other guys here have been using it and it is less expensive than alot of other heat sheilds. I think it is about $10 per roll and it took just over two. I then layed jute padding on top of that. I have put most of my free time into this project. Spring is just around the corner and I want to get it back out on the road.
Desperado76,
I don't know if 2 tone interiors on the 76 was standard or optional. The original dash was a Dark Buckskin. The problem I had was I could not find Dark Buckskin in a spray can to paint the defrost grill and the telescope lock ring on the steering column. I took the dash down to the automotive paint store and bought a pint of paint color matched to the dash. On the seats I bought the install kit. I did have to reuse a few of my old hog rings though.
Codestar7,
I have a real problem finding a place to stop. I still want to replace the door hinge bushings and pull the windows so I can clean up the tracks. Once that is done I hope I can stop until next winter. Then the front suspension gets a rebuild.
Thanks all for the compliments, this forum is a great place!
