Default What Gas To Use

I just bought a 74 vette with a base engine. 350 ci that puts out 190hp I think. What octane gas should I run?

The lowest oct that won't make it ping, anything else is wasted $. Don't fill up on E the first time, get 1/2 or so that way if it does ping you can put some higher test in to combat it.

That's the smart way to do it. With that motor, I'm guessing you'll find regular unleaded will do you just fine in all except maybe the hottest months of the summer.

unless your running more than 10 or so compression, the good ol 85 or 87 octane - whatever the lowest is will be just fine. If you ping any and have lower compression, that means your timing is too advanced. The 190hp engine would be 8 or so compression.
