I've bought a LS1 out of a 2003 Corvette that I'm putting in my '72 Corvette. I want to use Hooker sidepipes, so what I'm doing is buying a set of SB SS sidepipes from Hooker, a SS LS1 flange, and then having a friend of mine that is a superb fabricator figure out how to make them work.
The body is coming off the car next week, so I was wondering if is possible for him to do the sidepipes on the rolling chassis once it is completed. I don't know if the Hookers attach to the frame or the body.
They attach to the frame. Take off the rocker panels and you'll see some slots cut into the side of the frame. THe hookers use these for their mounting system, which consists of two "T"-bolts per side.
Know that you might have to elongate the slots in the frame to accommodate the T-bolts. (Or otherwise massage them to get them to fit properly.) This is because there are several minor variations between years, and even cars of the same model year can be slightly different.
The first thing the Hooker instructions will tell you to do is remove your rocker covers and cut them according to the template. DO NOT DO THIS! You car may not need to have them cut. Or maybe you'll only need to cut one side. Or maybe both. Mock up the assembly first and go from there.

looking at my 69 the previous owner that installed the hooker sidepipes cut the rocker moldings and they did not need to be cut. the bolt sits out from there and is not within 1/4" on the molding. wish he would of done a mock up first :/
