I'll vote for Holley's Commander 950 system. It is very easy to tune with a laptop and it will fit under a stock '78 hood. Also, they just introduced a wideband O2 sensor that I'm going to check out. Zwede also has this system on his BB.

For fairly stock, why re-invent the wheel? Stock Tuned-Port. Visual appeal is outstanding, great low-end torque, easy to get parts, fits under any C3 hood.

The 950 is what I'm using but I don't have the wide band. I'll check into that and see if I can adapt.
I read for the money, Holly is the way to go but FAST has a very nice system that can be tailored to monitor each cylinder. If I had it to do over, I would have gone that route because it was wide band also.

FAST

I'm using the Commander 950 with a PLX wideband controller in my '71 410 SBC and it works great. Takes some time to tune everything, but once your there you don't have to worry about it. I have the one program for 364 days a year and one for emissions testing.

Jim, You peaked my interest I called them and it sure sounds like the new FAST XFI system does it all. Including built in wideband O2 capability and sequential cylinder injection.

They seem to be pretty proud of there technology.....retail ~$2500 for complete widband system including harness

I thought about upgrading the RamJet 502 MEFI 3 until I heard the price

Do-It-Yourself programmable electronic fuel injection controller that will work on virtually any liquid fueled spark-ignition engine.

MegaSquirt is the controller only.

I vote for the stock GM TPI or modified LT-1, too. www.diy-efi.org 's gm-ecm section has most everything you need to tune it yourself.

I bought this ProFlo system about four years ago and did my research before I bought it. At the time there was no laptop program for control (there is now) but I have the communication protocol for the serial communication link and am writing my own. The car has been in frame-off for three years now so I don't have much experience with the Edelbrock unit, but it was very nice and very streetable for my 460hp smallblock till I tore the car down.

I bought my hardware (manifold, plenum, t body, etc) from Ken at first injections.

here is his link: www.firstinjections.com

I am using a FAST wide band O2 ECU that I can program from my laptop.

I had Ken shoot the Plenum Toirch Red for me.. cheaper than chrome and I thin k it came out kinda nice. Runs great.

I really recomend the FAST controller AND wideband 02 (optional)

Good Luck

How about this setup:

http://www.mass-floefi.com/MFchevy.html

A little more expensive but is a true mass fow system vice speed density. Supposed to get excellent reviews from the Cobra guys.

Another vote for the Holley Commander 950 system. I am running that on my 1980 and couldn't be happier.
