Default Calling Pittsburghers

Hey,

Are any of you guys here in Pittsburgh? If so, we should all have a get together when the weather breaks.

Does this already happen? Is there a Pittsburgh Corvette club?

Hope to hear from yinz guys n at.

(if you have been to Pittsburgh you will understand that last statement - making fun of the horrible Pittsburgh accent)

Yeah, provided we can get our cars started. There is a Pgh Vette Club. I think foundvettelifeisgood is a member. I make about 10 of the local car cruises and shows during the summer. There's only a few other PGH C2-C3 guys I know, Cruisemeister(C2), JC6372(C2&C3), foundvettelifeisgood(C3), Iceburgh(C5) and Dr.Nerve(C3). There's probably more C4 & C5 guys from Pgh than C3.

Interested in getting on the local show/car cruise mailing list?

What part of PGH ya from?

Hey Jagoff--you forgot Glen242 (Larry) and GaryS both out in Moon and both C3ers.

There used to be a forum function under Tools called Member Locator that used zip codes to determine the proximity of forum members. I think it's dead.

There are several Corvette clubs in our area. I belong to Steeltown. http://steeltownvette.com/ It's a great club. Very active with several different interests represented, but everyone gets along well. There's an autocross contingent if you like track time, cruises that end with great food and monthly meetings with speakers. There are road trips to Canada, Bowling Green, Cumberland... Most members are South Hills oriented. There are plenty of other clubs that would be convenient to where you are...which is where?

The 14 local clubs belong to the Western PA Corvette Club Council. They're listed here...

http://www.ccwp.org/pages/about_council.shtml

Every year, they have a combined show, which is pretty great. Here's a pic from the 2003 show at Boyce Park. Bob McDorman was the MC.

I live in Moon as well, I don't post very often so yinz guyz don't know I am around. I am not familiar with any corvette gatherings in my neck of the 'burgh and I know of only a couple good car cruises.

The only local gathering is when Gary helps the locals work on their car. I would like to get together with some locals to bench race, drink beer, and tell even more lies.

Don't know when I'll be running. Right now the engine is 1/2 out of the 'vette (damned low garage ceiling). Have to get a shorter chain to bolt to the engine to get over the fender. Good news is the bottom end is all bolted on the stroker and the heads and intake are about to go on.

I have a '76 also. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

I live on Rivercrest drive near Hyde Grade School. My vette was on the road until Novemember when I pulled the motor and front suspension. I have the suspension rebuilt I am finishing up my new 406 build. I am also putting new fiberglass bumpers on front and rear what a pain to fit. I hope to have it back on the street in April.

There is also a '77 two house up from me but I don't think he checks the forum out.

I have only see a few vettes in the Moon area. If you see a red 76 with sidepipes stop me and say Hi

Yeah, but you DO have THE best damned drag-strip in the Northeast nearby, in Maple Grove Raceway, south of Reading, Pa.

Yeah, that's true, but last year I barely got to any races. Although I prefer Friday night grudge races. Not too many imports yet though it is getting worse. All in all that's the best thing going in this part of central PA, Carlisle is only an hour away tho, so I guess that's a plus.

The local strip, Pittsburgh Raceway Park, isn't quite in then category of Maple Grove Raceway, but it is 200% better than it was just a few years ago, with constant improvements being made:
I tried forming a Corvette Challenge Series around here, with the track operator's enthusiastic approval, but there just isn't any interest in the area amongst Corvette-owners.

Default Another C3 yinzer

I belong to the North Pittsburgh CC (http://www.npcorvetteclub.org/), just joined.

In the past I've been a member of CCWP, and Three Rivers (Library area) depending on where I live (living in McCandless now!)...I've been to Steeltown's show as well. Pretty good. I also think there is a pretty healthy NCRS of Pittsburgh contingent.

Here's a story/question for you folks out that way. Many years ago when I was in a band, the owner of the Lemon Tree Lounge in McKeesport took me out to a garage in the back. He pulled the cover off a white mid-year big block coupe with blue interior purchased new and tucked away for when his kid turned 16. The thing was immaculate with about 400 miles total on it. The engine didn't even have dust on it...

Is that place still there? Anyone ever see or hear of that car or some lucky 16 year old??
