I've got an idea!
Moderators please do not move this thread as I meant it to be posted in general.
ANYWAY
While staring at my want list for the millionth time, I had an idea. I am betting that almost everyone here has a list of parts they are looking for. Since that is probably the case wouldn't it be cool if we all started a thread in the parts section with a wish list.
Here's my take
1. It's a great place to keep a working list that can be easily updated & notated.
2. It could be a great tool for fostering trades (we all hate to spend $).
3. With all the traffic here someones bound to help you out with something you need.
4. It would be fun to see how people are progressing on their Vette and whether their looking for stock parts or mod parts
5. You can bump your list if you feel your being ignored
Let me know what you guys & gals think. Do we need a poll?

Don't we already have that in the "Parts" section where people post their "WTB" (want to buy) items? How would a wish list be different, or are you saying there would be no money involved and the wish list would be a "For Free" exchange, sort of like we do at Xmas time on this forum?

Pay it forward
Over in the C-4 section we ran this idea as a "pay it forward" .
I think we had way over 2K viewers and a whole bunch of parts got sent around - it was great! I got An ABS system for my 86 - people got all sorts of parts. The thread hung around for a few weeks at least!

I agree that we already have that in the parts section. My idea was just that we take it to the next level. Instead of posting a part wanted thread Intermittently, we could post our complete "working" want lists there for all to see and we could easily add to it or delete items which are found.
I'm not suggesting that we treat it like a Christmas thread but more of a way to see what items others need (which would be fun). We can than compare fellow forum members lists with what we have hidden in boxes somewhere (and probably don't need). However, if someone wants to donate a part, more power to them. If I run across someone who has a want list which contains a part I have, I can sell the part or better yet maybe we can work a trade and vice versa.
I don't pretend to have the whole thing figured out and would love to hear some suggestions. In the meantime, if you are interested go to the parts section and post a want list using a heading like this...I'l start

I think the title is important to keep everything straight. Much better than "parts wanted", "need a part" "anybody have this" etc...
Think about it & let me know what you think. Maybe we can postan, "extra parts I don't need" list under our want lists
