rear vent grill question
i am doing a body off restoration on my 72. i thought a/c cars did not have the rear grill area cut out. i have a 74 and looked at it it is not cut out. but the 72 is "cut out" but looking at it they are molded in with the body both holes and the attaching hardware. it did have block off plates made of steel under the grills looked to be added by bubba. it also has the vent tubes going to the wheel wells (bubba blocked off with fiberglass matt) the tubes that were there drained into wheel well. i know this is a a/c car two many things present not to be. also does not have any astro ventlation provisions in the car. what is the set up susposed to be. thanks,wilson

68-73 A/C cars still have the trough and the drains. They don't have the astro-vent flappers that vent into the car. In 74 they did away with the trough and the vents are decorative only on a/c cars. Don't know about the trough on 74 non-air cars, it may still be there. When did astro-vents go away?

Rear Vent
I have a 74 T-Top that had factory AC. The rear deck under the Grill is not cut out so there is no vent there. However on my 74 the rear wheel wells do not close off completely and air in side the car can exit via the space between the wheel well and the body.
