Default Question on taking out engine?

When I go to remove the engine, will the radiator need to be removed as well? Besides the apparent, like ac, alt and fan shroud what other items need to be removed before and engine can come out? Thanks

Radiator does not have to come out but it is not a bad idea and is very easy to accomplish. Having the engine out is the best time to check the entire frontal area. If and when I pull another engine I will have a suspension bushing kit ready. My advice: take it out for a look see.

I don't know why you're taking the engine out but if you're putting in a crate engine you need to have the radiator cleaned and pressure tested for the warranty. Probably not a bad idea if you're rebuilding either.

When I pulled the engine out of my 79, I couldn't get the shroud out without removing the radiator first ! Wasn't a big PITA though since only had to remove a few bolts. Was worth the effort to just keep from banging the radiator with something.

In my 80's service manual the first step to remove the radiator shroud is to remove the radiator.

Good luck!

Don't even try to get the shroud out without taking the radiator with it. Six bolts and one nut and it's loose. You can keep the AC condensor in, but it helps to remove the headlight actuators to give yourself some room. I also took off the starter, carb and distributor to avoid damage. Joe
