Hear nothing but good about Zaino, but it's too pricey for me. I always used Zymol but I'm trying Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax tonight or tomorrow. I hear there's a lot of converts jumping ship to the NXT stuff so I decided to try it.

Let me know what you pick and how it works.

Good luck!

My bro swears by a product made by Pennzoil called QuickWax with Carnuba. He says it's the best thing since peanut butter, but I have never been able to find it here in San Diego.

Anyone out there in cyberspace ever seen it?

Zaino. Yes...expensive but lasts a very long time. Nothing like it

NXT was OK...it has some 'cleaning' abrasives. I did a comparison of NXT right next to a Zymol application, and there was no noticable difference. Of course, I don't have a $5000 paint job so who knows.

I might try Liquid Glass (relatively inexpensive @ Pep Boys) next. Maybe I will need to go to Zaino....

Not totally satisfied with the NXT....

I'm going to give NXT a try.....have been using Meguiars #26 for years after trying many others....Best in my book....If NXT works,I will try "topping" it with the #26 (experimenting) in a small area....Read about this "trick" lately. May do it this weekend...have Silver Anniv...

You must remove any old polish before application of NXT,by the way...for best results...

Default waxing the Vette

Hi,
I am going to try NXT on my 82 also. I know that you should remove the old wax before re-applying. I heard Dawn dishwashing liquid will remove the old wax yet not bother the paint. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks,
Tom

Tom: I just tried the NXT.Note that I have been using Meguiars #26 for years up to this point,a very good wax,IMO.My car is a Silver Anniv. 78' with new paint (painted 3 months ago).
First,I washed off the old wax (rear of car). Then I applied NXT on one side(half).
I applied Meguiars #26 on the other half (different applicator)and let both sides sit for 25 minutes. First thing I noticed was the #26 haze was a lot more visible compared to the NXT.
The NXt came off alot easier than the #26.I used a clean terry cloth, then a finishing cloth. It took more effort on the #26,(noticeable). I have to say the NXT is "slicker".
I could not tell a difference in the shine.(in garage). So I did both T-tops the same way.Again,I'm convinced the NXT is alot smoother(slicker) after polishing.Shine looks same.
If the sun comes out,I'll move it outside, and look again.I don't own any "black" cars, but I have a red one.I'll try it there,an see if there is a difference in the shine.I also use #26 on that vehicle too.
Rich

No difference in shine on the red car.(some oxidation)All else same.

This is what I learned about NXT. It is a good sealer coat/wax that removes minute scratches, etc, much like Zaino 5. Forums dealing with car care products recommend following with a "top" coat of Meguiars #26 for durability. In fact,Zaino recommends topping Zaino 5 with their Z-2. So,both are good products and it comes down to the "eye of the beholder",and price.

Washing your car with dishwashing liquid came from zaino, and it's pretty harsh on your paint.

Just use some good car wash liquid, just about all of the old wax will be gone, and if you clay bar you will be starting with the best bare finish you can get.

Once again, Dishwashing soaps are VERY HARSH to your paint....

I have used #26 for years, and just recently used NXT. I like them both.

It's not cheap but the VERY BEST......pinnacle products go with souvern if your car is a dark solid color or pinnacle signature series if you car is a dark metallic or even a lighter color like silver. I use it on my 95 DRM and it just makes the paint look like a pool of wet paint!

blows NXT AND ZANIO outta the water its 89 bucks for the sovern and 39 for the jar of signature I bought hte signature detailing kit it comes with all u need I think it was 69.

Have you tried topping the NXT with the #26 ? I'm told that gives durability to the NXT. I just did my 78 silver anniv with NXT yesterday.Really impressed and it is slick, too.Did one t-top with #26 over the NXT. My wife swears the Vette looks better and has that "wet" look.Backed it out of the garage this AM,and NO DUST !!

I haven't tried topping NXT yet, I have only used it on my daughters dark blue pickup, and then she takes off back to college. If I ever get enough time I will try topping it though, all the Meguiar's forum guys swear by it...

My wife's 1993 Toyota Corrola Station Wagon is silver. I clayed the car with Meguiars Mild clay bar using #34 as lubricant,Then I applied NXT.She really likes it,and it does look really good.It did not come out as good as my Vette,(not the real "wet" look) but my paint is recent, and hers is original and is not garaged.

But this NXT is my choice, from now on.
