Default need help picking tire size

Just recieved my torque thrust II's. They are 17 x 8. This is on my wife's 1979. I need to know what size tire would be best. I have vette brake suspension both front and back and am running the steeriods rack and pinion. I would like to keep the same size for both the front and back. Any help is appreciated.

I think that most on the forum with 17's are running 255/50r17, I'm not positive on the aspect ratio but I'm sure if you look through some of the signatures someone will have it posted. 255's will rub on some cars however on a full lock in front, mine will, and is the reason I have 245's on the front of mine but 255's in the back.

It seems that 255/50's rub on the earlier C3's , but are ok on the later.

I had 255/50's on the front of my 69 and they rubbed pretty bad.

I went to a 255/45 for that reason and also because I wanted a wider tire on the rear (285/40) and there isnt a 27" "wider" tire ( I would need a 285/45...which I couldn't find).

You may want to lower the car a little with the 255/45's to reduce the gap between tire and fender.
