Repost for weekday crowd: Headlights won't go down...
Have been working on my 73 for weeks (really months) now to get the brakes fixed (yippe finally appear to be working but am waiting for some nice weather to take a test drive). Well, started the car on Saturday and as I did, the headlights went up and will not go back down. I have tried letting the car run, trying to run them on and off. I have checked the override switch. I did a summary check of the connections, etc etc etc
What are the most common causes? Any ideas? I am hoping to take a deeper look this week(end) but some guidance would be appreciated as I am still learning about vacuum actuated headlights....

Here's the mandatory link to the troubleshooting guide over at Corvette 101:
Is the headlight hitting the plastic cover behind the grill? My cover warped and the headlight would get stuck on it. A small hole and a black wire tie solved the problem.
Could the relays have failed? These are the to items up under the hood surround behind the headlights near the center of the car. They have 4 vacuum line fittings - one teeny-tiny and three normal. The presence/absence of vacuum on these controls which way the lights go.
A failure in this could cause what you're experiencing. I suppose a loose connection or leak could do the same.
