Has anyone installed a Bowtie 700R4 in their car? I just installed one in my 66. I took it out for a test drive. after 2 test drives in OD all the gears shifted properly. On the 3 test drive in OD the trans would not come out of first gear.Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what was the outcome. I am calling them this morning on it. I will hate to have to pull the engine out again to get the tranny out. I will cut the crossmember first.
That is what I thought too. I checked the cable pulling it up and down and it still had tension on it. I tried the gas pedal and the detent cable worked fine.
Once I resolved a leaking selector shaft/seal, dialed in the TVS/line pressure and installed the Rochester 1904 linkage adapter (to control timing of shift points relative to accelerator position), I've had over 2 years of problem-free service with my BTO 700R4 kit.

Steve is the man at Bowtie. I removed and cleaned the governor with carb. clean as suggested by Steve and wala it shifts great. I got to take it out for a quick test drive to check all the gears and shift time and it was amazing. the 350 I had in the car at 60 mph ran at 3000 rpm's. Now with the 700 at 70 mph I am running 2000 rpm.
Now I can hear the radio over the side exhausts. Wish I did this 3 years ago when I was putting the car together.
I had to replace the govenor (they sent me a new one) the old one looked like it had a million miles on it. And they forgot to pu the speedo reluctor wheel in so I had to pop off the tailshaft and install that too.
I'm not complaining about the trans it works great and I would probably buy another if I needed one for a future product. The trans worked great after the new gov. It was easy to fix the problems in the car. The only thing I didn't like was that they tried to blame my installation at first. The only thing that could be better is the instructions, read them from front to back and I think at least half of it was the same thing only typed differently. The other useful thing would have been if they woudl tell you that the TV cable connected versus disconnected should only see a 5 to 10 psi change. Why they couldn't put this in their instructions I have no idea. I spent a lot of time getting the cable to push the plunger all they way in and my pressure difference was to great according to the tech. He then tells me I should only see the 5 psi difference, So I let some of the cable loose and drop the pressures and just like magic the trans shifts beautiful.
ON a good hard run I can get a 3rd gear chirp out of it. The shift from 1st to 2nd will sometimes make the car step out in rear which is pretty cool but it scares the passengers.
