This was a good thread to read on how to get the timing adjusted.
From reading it I have to go out and buy one of those timing lights that have the ability to set the strobe at 36 advance so I can set the timing right. Now I have the conventional style that does not have a preset.
Lars,
So if I understand this correctly, on my MSD i would set it up with the 21 degree spacer and the soft springs. Then try setting my initial around 15 initial and go from there.
I believe one of Lars major points was screw the initial timing at idle.........
It's great to get you in the ball park, but it's more important at higher rpms, and that is what you should set it at.
On the springs, he said start with the softest........if your timing isn't coming in at around 36 degrees move and twist the distrib. to get it as close as you can, and if it still won't come in, change to a heavier spring mixes, until it does.
