I've got a 75, 350 with auto. I've got a leak near the fuel pump. Problem is, I don't know if the fuel pump is leaking or the rubber fuel lines need to be replaced.
I've got the rubber fuel lines but don't know what the best method of replacing them would be. I'm sure there will be fuel spillage and am just a little leary of messin with it all. Anyone have a method that works, like putting a golf tee in the lines or something like that?
I would appreciate any ideas given.
Thanx
You won't lose a lot of fuel when pulling the hoses. Have rags and a coffee can handy to catch the excess. Cut the 2 rubber hoses off and replace the pump while your at it. Its pretty cheap, found at any auto parts store, and with the hoses you'll be out the door for less than forty bucks.

Thank you very much!
I was wondering if the tank would try to empty itself or not when pulling the hoses.
Yes it will empty itself. Just think how gravity works. I clamp the rear hose by the tank so only a small amount in the fuel lines will come out. Try to catch it with a can. You don't want all the fuel in the tank to leak out. Could be dangerous. Keep all lights away and if your hot water heater is in the garage be careful. Heard to many horror stories.
BTW what is the story behind your name sawboy.
I retired a few years back and started playin around with woodworking. Just a hobby. The Mrs. called me that one day and I cracked up and decided to use it.
My wife drives the 2005 and I drive the 75.
Bought the 75 in 80. Had it ever since. She's got 117000 on her and still drives great. Never had the heart to get rid of her.

Just want to make sure I got this right...Is it your car or your wife that has 117000 miles on her?
You need a set of rubber stoppers for things like the metal fuel line. Also, bolts make good stoppers for rubber rose, as do tapered things like punches.
