Default Cleaner and Polish Recommendations

Just bought a white 79. Paint seems in excellent shape except it's reallly dirty when you look close. Tried some Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner on a small area. What a difference.

Is this stuff OK or would you recommend other products?

Also, do the plastic bumpers need anything special?

Thanks in advance.

You will get a lot of info in the car care section but basically what you need to do is give the car a good detailing. You can use the Meguiars because it's an excellent product. I've used 3M Swirl and Haze remover with excellent results too. First wash the car with Dawn dishwashing detergent. This will strip all the old wax off the car. Then use either the Meguiars or 3M with an orbital buffer. This will give the paint a good deep cleaning. If you have spots of tar you can use a tar remover or cleaning clay to remove it. Once the car is buffed with the cleaner use a good wax on it. I use Meguiars NXT on my daily driver and I use Zaino on my 74. Both are excellent products but the Zaino is the bomb. It will outlast the Meguiars at least 4 to 1. You do not have to do anything special for the bumpers. For more on paint care check out my website here:

Meguiars is all I use. No need to pay too much for a good bottle of wax.

All i use is "Mother's products" on my black '78. I tried a dozen different brand and it's the mother's that i feel comfortable with. My paint is 16 years old and it look like new. Meguire is a good brand also and you can't go wrong with that.
