I have found an LT1 and T56 out of a rolled over f-body. I am wondering if people think this is a worthwhile project for my stock 81. Also how much work is it to get that tranny to fit. Feel free to post any other concerns you think I should have. This motor and tranny have 56k on them.
What year lt1? I have a '96 f-body with an lt1. I bought the car with 60k miles, and at that time it was is great running condition. Today I have @ 140k miles on it, and it still runs great. (knock on wood) The biggest problem that I have had, not related to the f-body itself, is the water pump. I have put three GM water pumps on it, and I am now putting on an electric pump.
I'm afraid I don't know much about installing an lt1 in a vette. I imagine that wiring in the computer and changing to a high pressure fuel system would be your biggest headaches.
Hopefully, someone with some real knowledge on this subject will post soon.
