Corvette myth. All Corvettes sold by GM had to meet all requirements for legal registration. What the first owner intended to do with the car after delivery to the original dealer is another matter.

I own a 1973 Corvette LS4 Z07, equipped with the rock crusher m21 muncie 4 speed, with 26,000 original miles, garage kept for 25 years. Pristine in need of a repaint. Hard to believe but true. Hooker Headers leather seats, tilt telescopic steering wheel. One Owner.

It sits alongside a 1964 Pontiac Lemans 326 four speed, black with black interior. Not original paint or interior.

I thought the Rock Crusher was the M22?

Does anyone have pics of this option? I will admit it was one of the first things I checked for on my 73.

Default Check in my garage for pics.

I uploaded 2 pics last night.. Just go to my page and check garage.. That's what my pop was telling me was that the m21 was the rockcrusher.. Anyhow. This vette is one of 40. Original with 26k miles.

No pics of the breaks right now.. I can get them when I get home.. Has the 7 leaf rear spring.. And no ac.. 4 speed. LS4.. It's legit.. I just want to know how many are left.. I knew it was rare but after more digging, I can't find any others. And with 26k original miles..

The M21 is not a 'rock crusher'- that's M22.

I understand now that the m21 is not the rock crusher.

In 1973, I was driving a 1970 Corvette when the Arab oil embargo almost killed the US auto industry. As far as I know, the 1973 Z07 had the L82 engine, F41 off-road suspension, M22 and J56 heavy-duty (dual pin) brakes. Much of the same stuff that the LT-1 of '70, '71, '72 had but without Holley and solid lifters. With the oil embargo and gas lines etc., the very low compression engine to reduce NOX, I suspect people were not thinking of performance driving/racing and the Z07 option was not requested much. For those that did make it to the street, I suspect that the insulated J56 calipers were also hard to come by when they began leaking and were often swapped for the single pin "normal service" versions. To give you an example of the brake cost differential, there is a Corvette parts vendor in Dallas that provides J56 brake calipers (some racing organizations only allow that upgrade as it was on a factory car) for the cost of $1,700. Oh, just to be truthful, I do not have an original Z07 though my signature suggests it. I built it one part at a time, with some improvements, from an old beater for my own experience and amusement and it will go to my daughter when I no longer enjoy driving it. The venerable Z07 has been reborn as one the hottest Z06 Corvette options. Long live the Z07.

I think you would need substantial documentation to establish a Vette as a Z07 optioned car. If the calipers, hardware and dated shock absorbers were all still on the car.....maybe I would buy it. If anyone is piecing one together I have a dated set of front shocks off an old SCCA racer I think they were 73 dates. Most Z07 packaged Vettes were probably put into service as club racers by the people who took delivery of them.....the small block is a thouroughbred but, the big block motor shares similarities with the motor from an Impala Station Wagon......not my cup of tea

deploying, so he has no time to work on it....but he is willing to trade it for a boat, or something else equally as useless while deployed.
