Default HEI <again> Will it fit?

Does the larger size of the HEI distributor with vacuum advance can clear the firewall of an early C3? Say a 75-78 distributor into a 71 vet?

Im not intimately familiar with those years of vette, but I doubt there is any real firewall issues to contend with. How much room is there b/n the points dist. and the firewall now?

Engine is out.. And I can't remember..I have a new crate almost ready to go in..I want to use an HEI and convert to an electric tach.. Just wondering about clearances with that large base HEI..I remember having issues in a early Camaro...

I'm 90% sure the firewalls are basically the same.
I have both at home. I will try to look at each this weekend and post back here.

I am running a '74 350 with an HEI. It is a little tight but it will fit. Do not use the same wires to hook up the HEI. You have to by pass the low resistence wire that would normally go to the coil. Otherwise you will not have enough spark. I am still trying to get it all figured out. M A D Enterprizes in California has a web site and a lot of info. They sell a kit for $20.00. You can only contact them by phone. After 3 weeks I gave up.
