Default Pillar Post Moulding

I installed new pillar post moulding last year when I redid my interior. I have not been happy with the fit since I did the job. I got my car out for a little cruise and clean up session yesterday. While working on it, I noticed the pillar post moulding again. The top is screwed down tight and the bottom is held in by the dash and the middle by the vette version of velcro. The middle section does not fit my car for sh#@. I have tried to hold it in place with some clamps but as soon as the clamps come off the molding goes back to its screwy position.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make these pieces fit better? What did you do to get an acceptable fit out of these pieces?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Eddie,
I believe the middle should be held in place by a screw (see pic). GM never used velcro....

Try heating it slowly with a hair dryer.

I replaced mine a few years ago. Ordered them from Ecklers and they came from Corvette America. I'm not happy with the fit or with the precision of the match to the original. The corners are not quite as sharp as the original and, if you look closely, you can tell the difference. I've been asking around at various car shows and it seems there are no exact reproductions. I've also discussed with the GM reproduction parts trailer guy and there is no GM licensed reproduction part available. If you believe Al Knoch, he makes the best. I've looked at them and they're close but they're not exact.
I think all we can do is to do the best we can and live with it.

Mine are Corvette America parts in the end. I don't remember who I ordered them from. They do have the metal support down the middle like the ones Ed has pictured. I have been thinking about taking them off and putting some weight on the center of them to see if that wil help. .

Just getting ready to replace most of 76 interior, carpet, pillar post, dash, and visors, with Knock parts. I hope that I don't find any problems that y'all mentioned.
