Default C3 Convertible yearly breakdown

Does anybody know of a good year to year breakdown on the differences in apperance and mechanicals on the C3 vette convertables. I have only seen pictures of the early cars and since they cost a bit more then I would like to spend I think I can settle on one of the older ones if they are not to far off. I am looking to spend about 20K and would like to get a nicely done car for weekend cruising. not really looking for a LT1 but a standard convertible.

.....the Corvette Black Book is an excellent reference for comparing model years.....

the differences in model years will apply to coupes as well as verts......e.g. '73 having chrome bumpers on the rear only, type of engine & trans, etc.....

.......'68-72 chrome bumper models are always desirable, but '73-'75 verts are low production years and as such have good investment potential.....hint hint......

One of the reasons you see pictures of only early C3 convertibles is that only early C3s were convertibles. The last year for convertibles was 1975.
Most knowledgable people agree that 1970 was the most attactive year for Vette convertibles.

In terms of shear numbers were the higher optioned cars more likely to be convertibles or are there just as many lower optioned cars.

Also what would be a appropriate cost for a 74-75 convertible driver, no special engine code. Could I get a decent one for under 20K.

I think the options were equally spread between the models.

Take a look at what the cars are selling for in Vette or Corvette Fever magazine. There is usually an auction review showing prices each month. I would think 20k would get you a driver that needs work...

Good luck -
