The shifter and linkage in my 4-speed 76 is getting really sloppy. What is the best shifter/linkage replacement.........I would like to keep my stock console since I just bought a new one....Any install secrets????
Hurst makes a direct fit replacement that works great. Had one on my '75 till I went to the Tremec. Still have it in the garage (minus the handle which I modded for the Tremec).
The Hurst competion/plus shifter in the summit catalog has a curved shifter arm??? Will this fit??? Is their a way to use the standard straight stick with reverse lockout??? Thanks in advance.
Hurst makes multiple shifter handles. There is a model for corvettes. I
modified mine, shortened the handle by an inch or so, but that was personal preference. Ck the hurst catalogue for the different handles, if you want a different one from what is shipped for your application.

The catalog photo is generic. The Corvette model comes with a straight handle.
The shifter on my 72 was sloppy also.ordered a new shifter .Then found out that one of the mounting bolts was backed way out, tightened the bolt and good as new.
