Default lug nut removal

any ideas of how I can get my lug nuts off?

I tried:

1. turning harder

2. WD-40

what's left?

3. heating with a blow torch?

4. magic

any other ideas?

TIA,
Oscar

If all the above fails, my next step would be:

1. Impact wrench.

2. Breaker bar (slowly)

3. Breaker bar inside a 4ft piece of pipe.

If that don't get them loose, it'll be sure to snap them right off.

If you have even a smaller air compressor get yourself an impact wrench. For rare usage a $30-40 one should do the trick.

A breaker bar might help. They can be purchased real cheap
on E-Bay. Of course you will need a 3/4" socket for it.
Good luck!

If a good 1/2" impact wrench will not loosen the lug nuts after soaking them with a penetrating oil, PB Blaster, Deep Creep or equal, then get a nut breaker and new lug nuts. If done right the nut breaker will not damage the stud threads.

There definitely cross-threaded... That's what happens when Bubba uses an impact gun...

Roger et al,

thanks much - I was on my way to the hobby shop to borrow the blow torch. But first I'll hit them with PB Blaster then the breaker bar.

I've never not been able to break them loose - hopefully the Blaster will loosen them,
thanks for all the leads

Ingersol-Rand #231 1/2" impact has been doing it for me for over 25 years! The cousin of the 231 is the NASCAR "Thunder Gun" with over 650 ft/lbs of torque in the reverse direction. Mopar owners live "IN FEAR" of the Thunder Gun! (you would have had to have owned a Mopar to know what I am talking about here.)

Yeah, ya gotta love those reverse threads on the left side of the car...

To answer the original question, I agree the impact gun is the best way to go at this point...

Definetly general.

If you can't get it off my advice would be get a breaker bar and sooner or later the bolt will snap. Then you can experience the joy in replacing wheel studs.
