I recently installed rebuilt front calipers and new pads. Because I
overdo things I decided to pull the pads and degrease the rotors and
pads one more time. I used sheet metal retainers to hold
the pistons in place.
When I went to reinstall the pads I could not get one in place. I
noticed that one piston had turned a bit on an angle so it was stuck
and would not retract. I used a screw driver to pry against one side
of the piston to get it straight so it would retract.
Question: Did I damage the piston or seal so I am likely to get a leak?
If the piston came too far out of the bore there's a chance that the lip seal got twisted over and might leak. How far out was it and how easy was it to push back in? O ring seals wouldn't be a problem, tho.
