Mine illuminates when my headlights are on. The lights work fine, but I would assume that the light is a warning of some sort.
Any clue?
Mine does the same thing! When I researched it, it sounds like the light shouuld go out when BOTH mechanisms are "locked" up in the proper position. There are little plastic switches (with rubber covers over the actual switch movement) attached to each mechanism and the "knuckle" or joint is supposed to contact them and turn the light in the dash out.
Do you mean the blue headlight light? That means that your brights are on. Is that what you are talking about?
No, he's talking about the red "Headlamps" light in the center console that is adjacent to the "Seat Belt" light. It comes on when the headlights raise and should turn off when the headlights fully and properly lock in their upright (on) position.

Do you see one headlight bouncing at night? That would be a clue that it is the one not fully locked open. The red warning is to let you know that one or both haven't fully opened. If yours are opened and locked, then you have either a misadjusted switch or a bad switch. Good luck.
PS: I can't remember if the connector being loose will cause the light to come on. Check in the service manual for headlight warning switch. Could be that simple.

Cool. Learn something new every day! Thanks. I've never seen mine work. I'll have to look in to it since I have my gauges out right now.

Bingo! Same problem I have w/my 70' right front light. It starts to vibrate/bounce at around 50mph and the red warning light comes on.
I've never known how to fix this and assumed that a bushing or adjustment screw had to be tweaked.

My light always comes on when the lights are up also. Looks like I need to play with those switches.
