I looked into doing that here in MI, but the response I got was that with historical plates, the car could only be driven in parades. Mine is a daily driver, so decided against historical plates. Would've gotten a insurance break with historical plates.
Have them on my 77, if its not a dd dont worry about it, parades,shows,cruiseins,repair shops, you can allway say you are taking it to one of these places, just no dd.
I got collectors on my (then new) 2002 Corvette - didn't want the dopers at the E-Tax station touching my car.
The wife wanted to get historical plates for her 1973, but didn't like the restrictions that were placed on their useage. So she went with normal passenger plates for it.
