HEI Distributor BYPass
I have replaced the Points Distributor on my 1974 C3 with an HEI. the experts say to by pass the old wire hookups. Great!!! So where do you connect the new wire. I have a wire already run from the HEI. and through the firewall. I just need to know where the connection point is.
Also when I installed the HEI Distributor, the rotor is pointing at the #8 Contact and not #1. Can I just rotate the wires one position instead of pulling the Distributor.

Here is what I did on a friend's Camaro a while back. We pulled the harness off of the fuse box and replaced the resistance wire that used to run to the ignition coil with a regular copper conductor wire. Easy and clean.
You could just re-route the wires but I would pull the distributor and re-install it in the correct position. Now is a great time to learn how and it will come in handy next time you need to drop a distributor into an engine.
