Default Centrifugal SC in a C3

Hi All,

This topic comes up periodically with no reports of any one attempting or completing this project.

I have finally had it with the affects of high altitude on HP and am contemplating going with either a Procharger or Vortex supercharger. Anyone have any input?

Thanks,
Ken

Why don't you run a post on the installation with lots of pictures. I for one would be very interested.

Couldn't a person get one of those water pumps that has the alt built into it and put the SC where the alt was?

This guy has a procharger w/355ci in his 68. The site has a few pictures but doesn't explain the installation.

I would put one on my '64, but they all seem to require that you use heads with accessory bolt holes. But I want to retain my modified camel-hump heads, so it's been a no-go.

Someone did recently offer an incomplete '63-'65 Corvette Paxton set-up on ebay, but what he had never even met the minimum bid of $600. Major missing parts included the inner fender well mod piece and intake manifold bracket. These could be hard to get. Also, I assume that such a set-up would be made for the rams horns, and I won't give up the headers.

My headers arent an issue with my paxton its just the size of the unit and no room between the control arm ,unless it sits up higher then im past the hood.I can mount mine on either side of the car but its the same thing.I just checked out those pics of that 68 he had same trouble withhood room.

Enchantment let us know what you do .

Could you mount the unit backwards? Put the thing in front of the engine?

no, you'd have to get a reverse rotation one.

I saw a 72 online that had a Vortec SC on a SBC..it had the box around the carb, and it all sat under a L88 hood w/ no air box. Definitely a tight fit, but it can be done. I wish I had pics..i saw teh car on eBay.

If you werent after lots of boost, the C2 Procharger model is much smaller but you would have to make all your own brackets. Ive seen a Novi Paxton on a small block C3 before.

I want to try and get one on a big block so its even harder.
