how do i raise headlights with car off for adjustment?(where is the manula switch hiding?) my headlight light on the dash doesnt go off and they have a little bounce on the highway so i guess they are not locking all the way. is the light the only way to tell they are fully locked? i put slight downforce pressure on the lights and they dont budge, but of course dont want to push too hard
also, under the steering wheel, what are the 3 ***** for? I believe the one in the middle is windshield wiper manual switch...no clue what the left and right ones are for and seem to be missing a **** on the center one anyway so it does nothing(looks like a bolt with a threaded nut on it)
couple more questions while im at it:
seatbelt light doesnt go off either-seatbelts were changed out by previous owner,is there a wire he left unhooked?
and one more thing while im in that area...my trip odometer reset seems to only reset by turning it one mile at the time...i assume it should reset it to "0" alot easier than that?
thanks! Dave

Raise them by reaching underneath and pushing up enough so you can grab the top from above - pull them up. To lower them, you need to pull sort of out and down on the big "knuckle" in the linkage as you push down on the top.
The small push-pull (up and down) ***** you found under the dash are vacuum switches. One for the headlights and one for the wiper door. Pull it down to actuate the headlights with or without the engine running as long as your vacuum tank is holding vacuum. The center switch allows you to turn off the wiper up on the windshield to change blades.
The seatbelt light is not hooked to the belts. After you start it, push the light once and it goes off! You have to do it each time you turn the key on.
I would recommend against working the lights manually. Someone help me here, but there is a possible damage issue on this. The switches that turn off the lit on the dash are visible with the headlight door closed from underneath. They are often out of adjustment or snapped off...
seatbelt light doesnt stay off by pushing it....if i depress button it goes off but once i let pressure off it comes right back on.
cant seem to get vacuum switches for lights/wipers to do anything so maybe cannister isnt holding vacuum.
oh well, if this is all I have to complain about this week than it must be a good week.
thanks! Dave
Sounds like someone bypassed the vacuum switches. Check to see that there are two hoses connected to each control. It's always a good idea to cut off 1/2" of vac line to each connection to improve the seal so no vacuum is lost. Try to listen under the dash for any hissing. If you buy a small vacuum pump and connect it to the vac hose coming from the tank you can eliminate any leaks with the engine off. No eng noise to coverupm the hissing sounds. Good LUCK
