Default Need heater hose routing help

I have a '73 454 and just replaced the heater core. What is the correct routing from the core? Straight up and forward by the exhaust pipe or threaded up inside the fender and over some AC stuff? Or??? I have an older Mid America manual, but haven't found the hose routings. Thanks

I believe the hose run just above the frame and go under the AC compressor. There is a holder under the compressor that bolts to the AC compressor support that the hoses go through.

There is also a bracket on the inner fender just under the radiator overflow tank. With AC, they loop down from the core, next to and above the frame, up through that bracket, under the front of the compressor thru a bracket, and up to the pump and intake manifold. I wish my camera didn't just die or I'd shoot a picture. Without air the routing is similar, except they start out straight out of the firewall, and obviously there isn't a bracket on the compressor. Thanks for the page #'s. My car has AC. Page 128 shows routing for a 350 engine. There must be a diagram for a 454 in there somewhere.

It's the same, they only show the different options when it affects the installation - base model is sufficient in this case. Joe

Since my 454 with AC does not have the room or a bracket under the compressor, I did a little more research. If you check page 57 of the AIM, you'll see that sheet 71 references heater hose routing for the LS4. Well guess what, no sheet 71 in my manual. I contacted Mid America and their manual is also missing sheet 71. However, Jody the tech guy was kind enough to check other years and found that the '74 manual has sheet 71 with 454 hose routing. It IS different from the 350 routing. He sent me a PDF file of that page. Anyone wanted a copy, send me a PM with your email address.

Default 1973 454

Hello,
I have a 73 with a 454. I havent checked my manual but it sounds like this page might be missing in many of them.

Please send me a copy of the page so I can hole punch and put it in my binder.

Thank you,
Ken
