I am going to go with new gauges for the center part of the dash. I want to know will the 2 1/16 gauges work and do I need the electric or mechanical gauges. thanks
The choice between mechanical or electrical is yours.
Oil, current is mechanical. The new mechanical guage will bolt right up to the compression fitting. If you go electric, you'll need to add a wire through the firewall and a sender on the block. It bolts to the existing 1/8 NPT hole.
Water temp. It's electric. You'll almost certainly need a new sender, so just replace the existing sender and use the same wire to the new electric guage.
Volt/amp. Switch to a voltmeter (electric, of course). I dont think the new ammeter will function right if you tie into the existing wiring. You can wire a voltmeter to any key switched wire.
Clock, throw it away, they never work long.
Tach, it's mechanical. Go electric and run a new wire to the - post of the coil.
Speedo, stay mechanical, not worth the trouble to go electric.
Almost forgot, fuel level is electric. You will need a guage that matches the 0-90 ohm range of your current sender.

Was thinking you had an earlier model. If there's a 1 1/2" round can screwed into the block near the distributor, it's electric. You may be able to reuse the sender, check with the guage manufacturer.
A mechanical will have a small plastic tube from the block to the dash. You still could use one of these if you want. Just run the plastic line.

Just another idea. Iwas at the Corvette show last week in Enid Oklahoma and saw a set of Autometers in the middle set at an angle towards the driver, looked pretty cool. I asked the owner were he got them and he said from summit.

yep...I agree. Was thinking about that myself before I actually install the pod. All I would need is the angled rings that would go beteen the gauge and pod and I would be in business. Anyone know where these can be purchased seperately? Or am I gonna have to make em?

well, decided to try the angled method. Better from the drivers seat I'm sure but not sure about the look...opinions?
