Recently my alternator went out and my car was running on battery power. When the battery became too low to keep the car running I jumped it and limped home.
Now the car runs extremely rough. I replaced the alternator, retimed and replaced the plugs. It still runs rough. Any ideas where to check next?????
I think your battery is screwed. You basically drained the crap out of it over a prolonged period of time. lead acid batteries like to be charged-discharged-charged...........
Steal the battery out of you daily driver and see if it fixes the problem then go to Wally-Mart and get a repalcement.
Be sure to check that your alternator is rally charging. I had mine rebuilt and the first TWO times it was a crap job.
You want at least 13.6 volts on a new battery. You want around 14.4 volts from a healthy alternator.
If your 12V battery reads 12V it is actually really sick. Put a meter on it when the car is running. It should read at least 13.6 when the car is running.
