I just installed a regulater,no mater how I turn it (in or out) it's still way to high..how should it be turned? in or out for low pressure? can these be taken apart and inspected? what hould I be looking for.
The regulator essentially looks like a "T." Unregulated fuel flows into the bottom of the T and then regulated fuel flows out of the two cross like outputs at the top of the T. (The regulator has one input at the bottom and two outputs of regulated fuel at the top.) You need to be measuring pressure at the outputs at one of the top T outputs; ie.e one of the dual outputs. You should, in the best of worlds, be measureing regulated fuel pressure output with a little bit of fuel flow;i.e. the engine running, etc.
Edelbrock sells a regulator that's built into a carburator flange plate. (Look at their webpage catalog under fuel pumps.) I've just bought one..today. Unfortunately, there's no provision in this set up to mount a fuel pressure guage to calibrate the regulator output. I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
