Default K&N Maintenance (noob question)

When I first got my vette I took out the stock air filter and replaced it with a K&N. Something to do with not having to replace them was my reasoning. Anyway, I know that they aren't no-maintenance, but I can't remember what it is I'm supposed to do to maintaim them? Can someone remind me what I need to do to keep 'em clean and how often it should happen?

You can get their "maintenance kit" at any AutoZone or AdvancedAuto store, it's a "special" cleaner and some oil in a spray can, less than $10.... I clean and oil my air filter every 6 months or so...

I got a K&N cleaning kit last Friday at Advance Auto. You're sposed to spray the filter with their enclosed cleaning solution...wait 10 minutes...rinse thoroughly...air dry...then spray the outer part of the filter with the enclosed oil spray. It's been a over a year since I cleaned mine and boy was there some brown water comin off it this weekend when I cleaned it.

I clean mine about every 3-4 months...but I drive mine everyday! When I do clean them, I replace the K&N with the stock filter.
