How is the ignition lock removed from the steering column? I want the entire car, doors and ignition, on the same key. The older car locks came out easy if you pushed the pin and turned the key counterclockwise. What's the trick with the column mounted locks?
Go to www.corvettefaq.com and look up Jim Sheas paper on the year column and type you have.
Bottom line is you need to take off the wheel and some of the stuff on top so that you can depress the end of the ignition lock (retaining clip) from the INSIDE of the column. It is fully detailed in his paper.
It is not diificult just make sure you study everything as you pull it apart. The C-clip is a bear if you get it backwards (it almost fits) it will never fit.
