Valve Cover I.D.?
What should a 1. 1969 350--300hp
2. 1969 350--350hp
3. 1970 350--370hp have for valve covers??
Do they all use the same ones?
Or do some use the stamped steel while the higher hp uses the cast finned ones?
Thanks for the reply 6T9
I'm pulling the valve covers this evening, is there any way to I.D. a 69 350hp engine from a 300hp?
So far the manifolds are correct 69 #s
The motors #s are correct for 69 to 74.
Valve covers are finned aluminum.
Are the heads #s diff? What should I be hoping for?
Thanks again

with Jeff. Here's a pic. These were also used up to '77 on L-82 cars, mid '70s Z/28 Camaros, '70-'72 Corvette LT-1s.

IIRC, the 350 HP was only available with a 4-speed, but you could get the 300 hp with an auto or 4 speed. It could have been swapped, but what does your shifter console tag say? Also, I'm not sure if the block numbers will denote the HP rating.
My car was originally a BB car (rear sway, tach redline, 4core external tank rad, caps on U-joints)
The console say 350ci 270pds torque which oviously is not correct for the year 1969.
I was trying to identify the motor that was put in the car
Was told it was out of a 69 vette but you never know?

Valve covers are finned aluminum, like pictured.
The holley carb & eldebrock are obviously not stock & tell me nothing!
I'll see what the head #s tell me, if they're correct for the year, I think I feel safe saying it is a 69 vette motor & a good chance it is a 350hp!
In any case it'll have to do till I can round up a BB & slip in it
