I've been smelling gas lately so I put the car up on a lift to find that the fuel pump and surrounding areas are wet with fuel. I cleaned off the fuel as best I could, tightened the fuel lines to the pump, and tightened where the fuel pump attaches to the block. Keep in mind, the hoses are new. I started the car and checked to see if I could see where the fuel was coming out, but i couldn't see anything maybe because it doesn't leak at idle because the fuel pressure is low (assumption). So the question is: Are there any tricks for locating a fuel leak?

is it above or below the crimped halfway mark? look for the little vent hole on each side just above the crimped section its about the size of a 3/32 drill bit....see if that is the source....

yes it means your internal diaphram is leaking and the fuel pump needs to be replaced before it ruptures and pumps gas into your engine through the push rod mounting plate....thats a real bad thing....
