Brake hose replacement - 2 done
I tackled the job of replacing the brake hoses on my '82 today. I purchased the stainless set from Zip. After spraying the connections with PB blaster and letting soak overnight and spraying again I found it a real challenge to loosen the 22 year-old lines from the old hoses. After a couple hours I had the rears done, took a break and started on the front -- big mistake! Could not get the brakeline loose from the hose no matter what I did or how much PB I sprayed, so I decided to giveup, but wait, I noticed the line on the drivers side got twisted, I checked to see if it was leaking and thank God it isn't but the line is tweaked pretty good. I bled the brakes, went for a test drive (to the auto store of course) and everythings fine except the brakes pull to the left on a sudden stop. I picked up another line and I may go at it again tomorrow. What a great way to spend my two vacation days.

I'm just guessing here but if the line is twisted it may be causing a restriction which may cause the caliper to retract slowly and make the brakes pull. Keep soaking it, try a little heat if you can and some good leverage with a breaker bar always helps(but be careful not to break it). Also try tapping it with a

I guess if all that fails, cut the line and flare the end?

Well I replaced the drivers side front hose today, the one with the twisted line, put on a new line and the new stainless hose and darnit A LEAK! Where the stainless hose connects to the caliper there was fluid squirting out quite a bit. I removed the hose and inspected it, put it back on and it still leaked! So I put the original hose back on and NO LEAK! Went for a test drive and no pull so far. Gotta contact Zip about the new hose.
