Well, as I stated in a previous message, I took pictures during the install - but never made them available. I started feeling guilty (no feeking idea why!!) so......
I put this together for all YOU brave folks who want to give it a shot!
Thanks for an awesomely documented project! You've given me the courage to tackle this job myself when I get to this point. Having the sequence of pictures will really help. Did you remove the old windshield yourself in one piece or was it already broken?

You are very welcome!
It was already out when I bought the car - which was a basket case that had been started but then sat, untouched, for over 10 years. I haven't heard of many success stories removing them in one piece. New glass is cheap enough to not even try!
Cool ... I just might do this ... or at least find all the parts so the glass dude can do it right.
Now, I look at your avatar and all I see is a new windshield.

Thanks Paul
You're welcome - but you're still a tough act to follow!!
I just took my windshield out on my 76...let me know if I need to post how I did it again...it was easy IMO, I did it by myself and I'm a 'smaller' guy (weigh about 125-130).
Just make sure you have some styrofoam to put it on before you lift it out!
You used a tape instead of butyl that comes in a tube?
Yes, I used the 3/8 tape (actually, I'd call it more of a rope) because it provides some "support". This helps a GREAT deal with the windshield depth. If you use just the butyl in the tube, the windshield can (and does) "sink" into it. This is why you will sometimes see multiple sets of holes in the s/s molding - the "extra" set of holes is put there to make up for improper glass depth.
BTW, can you suggest sources for some of that stuff (rubber blocks, etc...)
Thanks again!
You're welcome!
I got the rubber spacers and butyl tape from a friend who had them around. I would start at NAPA - I believe they have most of it. Auto body supply would be my next stop (or first if it is more convenient).

Oh yeah - that's right. I bought a spool of butyl tape for sealing my
firewall to birdcage. It came with rubber spacer blocks ... almost forgot.
Readily available at better auto supply stores.
