Default Adj Thermo Switch?

What is the best adjustable switch for thremo controlled spal fans? I love the Spals but the cheap switch burned out and turned my fans on @ midnight. Woke up to a dead batt. Spal only make 2 switches and both go below my 180o thermostat. What are my options? Spal is working on an adj switch but not yet. I'm having my 74 rewired again, and I want this done right. Any help out there? TIA

Dewitt has a switch which kicks on at 195 and off at 175.
I know you can get a 185 and 165 as well

That is the problem. My engine runs at 180o. I need the fans to shut off at 185 or higher.I would like the fans to turn on at 195 and off at 185. Anyway that I can do this?

Call Summit. Painless has a switch that turns on at 205 and off at 185. It's the one I use. You'll find that most, maybe all, are a 20 degree spread.

Also you could give an ignition-switched signal voltage instead of a hot source. Then your battery won't die. With a regular fan it isn't ever on with the engine off so it shouldn't hurt anything.

Here is what I am using.

http://www.haydenauto.com/assets/2003Haydencat.pdf
Go to page 90 (92 of 222) and look at part number 3647.
#3647 - "Temperature and AC activation, Operation of up to two fans, AC or manual override, Complete instructions and hardware.
Replaceable relay and fuse. Limited 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty"

I get them at Pep Boys for $39.99, but I see today they have jumped the price to $50 ish. It will run 2 fans, has the A/C relay, adjustable, has the fuse and relay built in and is all in one compact unit. It uses a temp probe that you push in between the fins of the radiator so you don't have to put anything into the motor (no draining of the fluid). I like that feature too as I don't want to run wires from the engine to where I have the controller mounted on the left inner fender. Makes for a cleaner look.

I had one burn out (my fault (wiring too close to heat source)) and will be re-installing one tonight. I will take pictures.
