Default electric fan?

what would be a good one to get besides Dewitts( they look great but there a bit to pricey for me right now) that I could just bolt on ( or a slight bit of mod) like off a 80ish camaro? I can fig out the wireing can't be too hard to do. any and all advice would be great thanks in advance

Jegs makes a universal 2 row one inch aluminum radiator kit for chevy for around $200...........might take a little owrk for the fit compared to Dewitts though...

I like my Permacool 16" #19115. It pulls 2950 CFM and kept the 383 cool in the FL heat even with a copper radiator with built in tranny cooler. It's the only fan I am running.

Got the idea from Olivier, he has a 14" in the 68, but he also had dual spals out in front.

I had a dual electric fan setup in my '77 for a year. Though it cooled the radiator and a/c nicely, it didn't push enough air to keep underhood temperatures down--I couldn't touch anything under the hood for a long time after shutting down. I put the fan/clutch back in.

Keep on saving your pennies and buy the Spals from Dewitts. Keeps everything rock steady cool and they are made for the radiator (anything else is going to be a compromise).

C4 Vette also works nicely, but they usually aren't cheap either.

Default Electric Fans

We used lots of 90-96 Corvette dual fans for C3 conversions. You can find them at swap meets, although not nearly as many as a few years ago (due to their popularity). Make sure the shroud is good, then replace the motors with new GM's. The great thing about using these fans is that the parts are available at any Chevy dealer. With the proper radiator, they will cool 450-500HP.

Im using the same fan and it works GREAT, looks and performs better than the stock one, also let me mount the VBP strut bad out front.

I used a 16" fan off a '90 Lumina minivan. Fits the radiator great. I just welded some tabs on the ends of the radiator and bolted it on. Of course I have a stock engine that can't get hot enough to even kick on the 190 degree thermostatic switch.
http://www.haywireinc.com/ has some good prices on more DIY oriented wiring jobs. I got my fan harness from them.

Does your fan or these fans replace the stock fan or are they supplemental? Do you keep the shroud on or remove it?

well im replaceing mine with an electric fan cause 1-my fan shroud is in 4 differant pieces (was like that before I started) 2- the fan clutch is bad. 3- adds 20 h.p. or so (ill take all I can get) so when I replaced the core support (cause ya can't weld rust and i didn't want to spend 2 weeks building a new one)so I order a new one and the radiator leaks so I have the old one to do test fitting on for a electric fan set up.
