rear tire sizes

i want to really fill up my rear wheel well with some big rubber...i'm just going to run smaller sizes on the front wheels
anyone know the max size tire that'll fit on 17x8 wheels on a 69?

I am running 255/40 on 17's, not sure how much bigger you can go without any problems

many run the 255-50-17 on the rear axle, these tires have the same overall diameter as the originals (27") - do a search, there should be tons of photos ...

I am running 275/60/15s on the back, they fill it up, but if you hit a bump or go over a low bridge they rub the finderwells. so im going to say 275/60/15s are too big. 265s might look nice though.

255/50zr17....depending on your backspacing..it should fit with no problems. Anything bigger would require offset trailing arms, or custom bs that might cause the wheel to stick out from under the fender well.
