Default Started assembling power locks and keyless entry for my 69

I just started building, assembling, and collecting the parts I need to convert my 69 to a keyless entry and power locks system. I did this conversion previously on a 75, and it worked really well.

Here are all the parts:

This is the 791XV Viper alarm system that will be providing the keyless entry control. It also features an alarm, a paging 2 way transmitter, shock sensor, and other stuff.

Here is the lock actuator, mounting equipment, and the relay that I built from radio shack parts.

This is where it will all be hidden. If you have a door panel like this, it should fit no problem (sorry 68 guys)

Here is a schematic on the relay I built. It cost $20 in parts I think? THe DPDT relays were about $8 a piece.

Let me know if you are interested, and I will keep you posted on how it comes together.

Sounds neat. Would like to see photos of the actuator attachment. Keep us posted.

Thanks.

Sorry it is taking so long, but I am still waiting on one part. I promise I will not forget to keep you posted.

If I am calculating correctly, it cost me about $250 to do it, but that is only because i used a $160 viper alarm with other features like remote start and 2 way paging. I did it on my 75 vette with a $60 (?) keyless stand alone unit, plus maybe $50 for relars, actuators, and wires.

One more peice guys, and it will be finished...!

Ok, finally:

This is the actuator installed in it's place on the window gear cover. I didnt do any exact measuring, sinse there is plenty of room in here. Just put it close to the shaft, as this will help prevent any binding.

Here is what I am using to control them. The viper control unit, with the relay box on top. I added a power distribution panel to it. I decided to create a centralized place to draw power for all my stuff like stereo, alarm, locks, amp, etc.

I know there is no fuse for the relays as of yet (for those who noticed) but it is coming. I think a 10 amp should be plenty?

The only way to activate the actuators on my car is through the remote viper system. If you look at the schematic above of the relays, all that is needed to activate them is a negative pulse, so if you wanted, you could add in buttons, switches, or even a hidden switch on the outside of the car somewhere, I chose to just use the keyless entry system, as not to have non-stock buttons and switches in my interior.

I had tried actuators like that once, the plastic cased chinese made parts... I could never get the actuator to throw the lock mechanism. Probably should have spent some good time cleaning up the lock parts, lubing them up for ease of movement.

Hope your project is a success.

Just as a side note, some alarms come with the relays built in and can use a direct connection to the actuators. I've done this in the past, and will be doing it this week as soon as my alarm gets here.
