Default Windage Tray?

Does a windage tray bolt into the oil pan or onto the bottom crank / main bearing caps? I've read where you can save a decent amount of HP at above 3K RPM by using this or a wiper system. Waste of money? Comments?

Windage trays are normally attached in the oil pan. I just installed a new Hamburger low profile yesterday in my son's 23 T-Bucket. Really well built with a nice windage tray and extra capacity (7 Qt) sump. It is a low profile. We needed the extra clearance as the engine sits rather low in the car. By the way it's not a ford engine. (67 327 Corvette Engine).

Chevrolet sold studs that take the place of some of your main cap bolts....5 I think.....parasitic drag from oil has the Nextel cup guys using $2500.00 oil pans, they are absolutely works of art.

If I was you I would go to my local Chevy dealer and ask to look at his hi-perf parts and accessories catalog....he probably has (or can easily get) what you want (without the shipping charges)....

Unless your turning high RPMs frequently it might be a waste of money.

The comment on the studs for the main caps is correct. This tray is stock for a 1979 L-82.
