Default Stupid Strut Bracket Question

I almost got this thing put back together, pictures will follow when done, but to my question for now.

The strud rod bracket in the AIM and the Reapir Manual looks like the flat side is facing the front of the car. I thought it would only go on one way by the bolt pattern when I put it on. It seems mine is installed with the flat side facing the rear and the side that indents in a little is facing the front.

Is this correct?

I believe the bolt pattern allows it to only be put on the one way, yes. I cannot remember how it put on since it has been a few months since I've been under there. If somehow you can bolt it on both ways, whatever way puts the rod under the axle is correct. I know that the pattern doesn't allow it to be bolted on both ways though. I think the flat part is to the front.

Im going to look again real quick, if it only goes on one way I guess the strait side faces the rear.

It can only bolt on one way. The right side bolt pattern has one hole offset into the carrier unless its different in 1972 but I doubt it.

Thanks all, looks like only one way to me too. Got the struts and shocks on. Almost ready to torque everything except shocks and spring and put the brakes on, and hope they bleed easy.
