Default Thick or thin front seal?

What did 74 L-48 engine have for front seal? I am looking to purchase a 1-piece oil pan gasket, and don't know which one to order. FEL-OS34509T or FEL-OS34510T. What does "thick" mean? Any dimension?

Anyone know which one came on 74s?

This might help. With the original oil pan for 74 you have the early style gasket. I believe the 75 and up factory pan as well as ANY year model replacement pan made by GM in the last few years uses the later style gasket kit. I have more details at home but it might be a while till I get there.

I order one of those one piece oil pan gaskets from Scoggin-Dickey. The one they sent me was pretty nice, but it had the larger seal which does not fit my 79(inbetween pan and timing cover). So now my $25.00 gasket is useless to me...Tony

What is the thickness of the seal on that gasket? Maybe it's perfect for me?

In "How to Rebuild Your Small Block Chevy" it says the thin seal is for early oil pans and the thick seal is for later pans.
