Default Gage console short

I seem to have a short in the center gage cluster of my 71'. The gas gage, temp gage, seat belt light, door ajar light and E-brake light don't work. Keeps popping the fuse. The dash harness was new last year. I have the dash apart and don't see any damage to the harness. I've checked the Pink wire from the gage cluster to the fuse box and find nothing wrong. Any idea's on where to look next?

If you keep blowing the fuse, you do have a just might have a short somewhere. Using your digital multimeter, check the resistance to ground at all points on the feed circuit or 18 gauge Pink wire. Check also directly at the fuse panel as well.

I disconnected everything on the center cluster except the wires to gas gage, Temp gage and seat belt light. When I turn on power everything works until I push the seatbelt reminder button, then it blows the fuse. The push button is a die casting and is bare on the end that contacts the bar on the relay. Is there suppose to be some sort of insulater on the end of the button ?

Not sure, I am much more familiar with 67s. At least you did locate the short. You may have to replace the switch, don't know if they are reproduced.

I tried to send you an e-mail but was blocked. Oh well...
