My dad and I are restoring a 68 vette, and we recently got a set of Headman Headers. (I am his daughter, posting becuase I'm more computer able, and because the vette will be mine when I drive next year) While he was looking at them, he realized that they may get damaged if I go over speed bumps or such. He called the store where we got them, and he said no one has ever complained about them being to low. Just to be safe though, we figured it would be better to post and ask. So, has anyone ever had a problem with Headman Headers hitting?
I had them for 10 years, and I put a big dent in one side by hitting some wooden road trash that popped out from under the preceding vehicle. The Hooker Super Comps have much better clearance, which is what I later used.
Also, when changing the oil filter with the Hedman's, the filter must be tipped to clear the exhaust pipe coming back from the collector which causes spilling no matter how you do it. The Hookers have adequate clearance for the filter to come straight down and out.
I'm having not great luck with the Hedmans but I drive it EVERY day... my car is low, not as low as Bryan Seery's, but I have found quite a few speed bumps it doesn't like, one that actually had the metal SCREAMING as I drug along it. Boooooy, was that bad.
All said, I -mildly- scrape over bumps all the time.

Why don't you stay with the cast iron exhaust manifolds and a 2 1/2" exhaust system. There a lot of corvettes aaround with the stock manifolds.

My front fender measures about 25" from the ground to the top of the inside fender lip. That is without my heavy *** in the car. My tires are 26" tall if that gives you any idea of how low the body is.
