Default Distributor ground?

Is a HEI distributor supposed to have a direct ground to the engine? If so, where is it supposed to connect?

Thanks!
Jerry

The ground for the HEI (I am talking non-computer controlled) is the mount to the intake manifold. The cap connections should be: The plug from the side of the distributor, 12V from the ignition and the tach wire. There is no individual wire for a ground.

Hope this helps,

silver74vette: Ok, thank you. I just thought it was weird because of the gasket between the distributor and the intake.

comp: Yep, I have all the ground straps in place!
