I went to get a filter kit for my transmission and found out
there was more than one automatic in 1980.
So how do I tell what one I have in my car, is there a number
in the Vin that should tell me?
(1980 L82)
Thanks Barry
Barry,
Look at the pan. It should be square with the right rear corner cut off at an angle. That's a turbo 350 trans. I'm not familiar with any other automatics available for an '80.
I thought that the TH350C was the only automatic transmission available for the 1980 Corvette. The "C" indicates that it has a lockup torque converter. There should be a vacuum switch on the firewall, drivers side near the top that is used to unlock the converter during heavy load such as hard accelleration.

My local auto shop has a listing for a th200 tranny
and two filter kits for the th350 one is nylon and
the other is dacron? The guy has no idea what dacron
is so maybe I'll try the local Chev dealer.
Thanks
